To assist MHA members to recover and heal from addiction, emerging committed to continued recovery and sobriety, and taught to utilize their tribal culture and spirituality, so that they are capable and equipped to rebuild and sustain healthy MHA families and communities.

Mission Statement

Utilizing the 12-step Program integrated with MHA cultural and spiritual enrichment, the MHA Sober Living Program seeks to provide a safe, drug and alcohol-free, extended care transition environment for members of the MHA Nation endeavoring to recover from substance abuse.

About the Program

The MHA Sober Living Program and facilities enhance the prospect of the successful and durable recovery of MHA tribal members by the long term applied daily practice and reinforcement of the 12-Step Program integrated with a MHA cultural and spiritual component. The recognition and utilization of MHA-specific accepted spiritual healing methods is critical because mainstream methodology and practices can, and often do, differ from those of the non-Native community and amongst tribes.

Therefore, primary to the framework for tribal member recovery is the MHA’s tribal history of a zero-tolerance drug abstinence-based and spiritual lifestyle to which the MHA Sober Living Program has uncompromisingly adhered. Program staff are active in recovery, committed to sobriety, and are available for each Lodge to encourage and monitor the Guest through this lifesaving, life-enriching process.

The MHA Sober Living is a transitional peer-led extended care addiction initiative.
The Program enhances the prospect of successful and durable recovery.
MHA tribal members apply daily practices and reinforcement of a 12-Step Program, while integrating MHA cultural and spiritual components.
